Kathryn Hooper, Head of School

Kathryn Hooper has served as Head of School at St. Martin’s Episcopal Preschool for the past six years. She brings 34 years of experience working with young children. She began her career in early childhood development as a preschool teacher at The House of Pooh Corner where she taught for 11 years. Ms. Hooper served as Assistant Head of Lower School at St. John’s School for 13 years before becoming the Principal of Presbyterian School. A native Houstonian, she received her History degree from Duke University and studied Education at the University of St. Thomas. She is a member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church.

Ms. Hooper has served on the Board of Directors for KIPP Academy, as well as El Centro de Corazon. She currently is on the Board of Visitors for the School of Education at University of St. Thomas.


Melissa Harrison, Assistant Head of School

Melissa Harrison has been with St. Martin’s Episcopal Preschool for six years. She has served as Assistant Head of School for the last four years. She holds a B.S.Ed. and M.S. degrees from the University of Memphis. Before moving to Houston, she taught school in Memphis, TN for 20 years. In addition to serving as Assistant Head of School, Mrs. Harrison also heads the school’s Human Resources Department and teaches Character Education. She has been a part of two Southwest Association of Episcopal Schools accreditation teams.

Mrs. Harrison is a certified trainer with the Texas Diocese’s “Safeguarding God’s Children” program and an Advisor for Childhood Education with the Southwest Association of Episcopal Schools. She is a member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.


Sharon Ladd, Director of Operations

Sharon Ladd has been with St. Martin’s Episcopal Preschool for twenty-two years. She began her career with the preschool as a 3 year old teacher for two years. She has worked in the business office for the past 18 years and was promoted to Director of Operations in 2008. She holds a B.S.Ed. degree from Stephen F. Austin.
